As Turkey Successfully Tests Russian Made S-400 Systems, US Turn Out to be Concerned over this

On Monday and Tuesday, Turkey tested Russian made S-400 systems successfully but the US doesn’t seem to be happy.

On Monday and Tuesday, Turkey successfully tested the radar systems of Russian-made S-400 anti-missile defense systems in the capital Ankara. As the country signed a contract with Russia in April 2017 to buy the advanced S-400 systems they were delivered with the first batch in July. These defense systems were then deployed in Murted Airbase in Ankara.

Since the deal between Turkey and Russia over the S-400 systems was revealed, tensions between the US and Turkey escalated. This was because the US claimed that the S-400 systems will turn out to be incompatible with the NATO system which may expose its confidential military information to Russia.

But Turkey still went ahead with the deal which led to the halt of the delivery of F-35 fighters to Turkey by the United States.

While talking about Turkey testing S-400 systems, the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday said that Turkey carrying out the tests with the Russian defense system it purchased is concerning, but the talks between both the countries are underway to resolve the issue.

Pompeo said that the US has made it very clear to Turkey that they want to see them moving away from the full operation of the S-400 air defense system.

“Yes, it is concerning. But we are hopeful. We are still talking to the Turks, still trying to figure out our way through this thing,”

Pompeo said.

And according to Moscow, Turkey is all set to sign a new contract for S-400 missile-defense systems with Russia, which can further affect the relations between the US and Russia. This could trigger sanctions against Turkey by the United States, as they have been already warned about the sanctions after they received the first batch of S-400.
